Civic Information Developer

Background
I built CIV.IQ to organize and present publicly available civic information in an easy-to-understand way. I work as a bartender in Detroit and develop civic technology as a side project.
My goal was to create a civic intelligence hub that helps people access government information that's technically public but practically difficult to find and understand.
I use modern development tools including AI assistance to build solutions that integrate government data sources into unified, accessible interfaces.
Current Work
A public utility tool that organizes publicly available civic information into an accessible format. ZIP code lookup for representatives, voting records, campaign finance data, district demographics, legislative tracking.
Integrates real government data sources: US Census, Congress.gov, FEC, OpenStates, GDELT. Designed as a public service - information that's technically public but practically inaccessible, made easy to find and understand.
Technical
I built CIV.IQ using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node.js with modern development tools including AI assistance. This was my first major project integrating multiple government data sources.
The focus was on creating a civic intelligence hub that makes scattered government information accessible in one place. The challenge was connecting different data formats and presenting complex information clearly.
I'm interested in building similar solutions for organizations that need to make public information more accessible to their communities.
Personal
When I'm not bartending or working on civic technology, I play hockey, DJ and produce electronic music, and cook food.
I'm interested in hypertext, car design, media ecology, psychoanalytic theory and history.
